This week was charged with geopolitics as both G7 and BRICS meetups are happening. In a way, both poles need to assess and understand their future standing as the two wars rage (Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas) and the third one (China-Taiwan) is about to start!
This era is not of war but of peace, and probably that’s why India got a special invite to the G7 meet and is also attending BRICS because India does not wish to lead anyone but be a world friend, or ‘Vishwa Mitra’!
Let us leave the big talks to the leaders and present to you the top world news, be it the naming of Mars craters, Aliens, ChatGPT & Apple, Thanos of LinkedIn, the bounce back of Sensex & Nifty, and more.
Starting with the top news!
Mars craters will have Indian names: Scientists and Indian towns
Three craters on Mars in the Tharsis volcanic area are anointed with Indian names, i.e. “Lal” and “Mursan” & “Hilsa” by IAU or International Astronomical Union. It is being done because of the recommendations made by the Physics Research Laboratory, or PRL, based in Ahmedabad, India. These names are significant because they take into account both scientific achievement and cultural significance.
Lal Crater
- 65 km in diameter
- Named after the late Professor Shri Devendra Lal (who led PRL from 1972 to 1983),
- His contributions to space research & cosmic rays left a lasting impact over the global scientific community.
Hilsa & Mursan
- Hilsa crater is on the right of Lal crater, named after Hilsa town in Bihar.
- Mursan crater is on the left of Lal crater, named after Mursan town in UP.
The finding was made possible via SHARAD, which is the Mars SHAllow RADar sounder aboard NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, or MRO.
Aliens could be living among us: Harvard Study
As per the latest Harvard and Montana Technological University’s study, aliens might be living around us, be it underground, on the moon, or among us, by disguising themselves.
The activities that have been called sightings of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, may very well be the activities of these species. The species are hypothesised to be the remnants of the interaction of various species since the Earth became habitable.
They are being called crypto terrestrials, which include
- Magical beings (angels, fairies, and such)
- Smart Dinosaurs
- Smart Apes
- Smart Humans
There are also rumours about the UFO retrieval program by David Grusch, a whistleblower who testified under oath.
How to protect your data from ChatGPT in Apple devices
With the latest iOS 18, Apple devices will be able to use ChatGPT with Siri, but no money transaction will happen between Apple and OpenAI for this. As per Bloomberg, the companies are more focused on the exposure that ChatGPT will get via this integration.
But this raised security concerns, as this exposure and possible learning that will benefit ChatGPT and newer AI models from OpenAI will come at the expense of Apple users’ personal data.
Apple has assured that the strictest data privacy laws will be adhered to. Apple users’ permission will be asked before sharing their data in the form of a complex request to ChatGPT. But if the users use ChatGPT, for example, Dall-E, then those searches and results can be used for training purposes by OpenAI.
Saving your data
- In iOS, tap on the three dots on top right, select “Data Controls” in “Settings,” and disable “Improve the model for everyone.”.
- On the Web, find the icon of the ChatGPT profile on the bottom left and repeat the above steps.
Better safe than sorry!
Microsoft delays Recall AI: security concerns?
Microsoft will be delaying the launch of its AI contender, i.e., Recall AI, amid rising security concerns. Recall AI would be used to track computer usage, web browsing history, voice chats, and more. Elon Musk called Recall AI a black mirror episode, which basically calls it an adverse technologythath could be harmful to humans!
This data can be used by the user to look back on their computer usage from months ago! But now it will be made available to a select group called the Windows Insider Program or WIP, while earlier it was supposed to be rolled out on June 18th to Copilot + PC users.
Copilot + PC users have access to AI that was already rolled out in May. Now, WIP will test Recall AI, and based on their feedback, the future availability of Recall AI will be decided!
Do you know the “Thanos of LinkedIn”?
How many universities would you call too many? Two or one, maybe!
But what would you say to a man who has attended 10 universities—Oxford, Harvard, and Stanford too? Well, shocking as it may be, it is the truth.
Mr. Jamie Beaton, CEO of the Crimson Education, started in 2000 from,
- Saint Kentigern
- King’s College
- University of Auckland
- Princeton University
- Yale Law School
- University of Pennsylvania
- Schwarzman Scholars
- University of Oxford
- Stanford University
- Harvard University, and more
He was found, luckily, by Mr. Nikhil Basu Trivedi, co-founder of Footwork. His post has gone viral on X with 2.7 million views, and it was posted onJune 13th,e i.e., yesterday! And in the third comment, “Thanos of LinkedIn” was born.
India could attract foreign-domiciled Indian startups with GIFT City
The Indian government might launch the lucrative GIFT City, or Gujarat International Finance Tec-City which aims to compete with Singapore and Dubai by offering tax breaks and more.
It is targeting those Indian startups that have now domiciled themselves in foreign countries for various benefits like zero tax and more. They can further be granted permission to list on Indian stock exchanges like the National Stock Exchange, NSE, and BSE!
Unicorns like Zepto, Meesho, Razorpay, and more are among those big names that could come back home, and the impact of it all will be,
- Exponential mutual funds and
- Boosted retail investor tech stocks.
Maybe this is one of those ways to ensure 1000 unicorns by 2030 in India!
