Earth to be blessed with two Moons for Two Months
Earth’s night sky is going to transform into a sci-fi night sky with two moons!
It is because of an asteroid, 2024 PT5, that will be in Earth’s orbit for two months, i.e., from September 29th to November 25th in 2024.
It was detected by the scientists of Universidad Complutense de Madrid after tracking it for 21 days and then plotting its future trajectory.
So, if you were thinking of buying a telescope or a camping trip, the time is upon us!

Negative Impacts of Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellites
Starlink satellites that were launched to boost global internet connectivity and bring net neutrality have posed other challenges!
They are,
- Hindering Cosmic observations because to get an apt reading while observing the cosmos, the telescopes have to be pointed at the same location for longer durations. And these satellites come budging in periodically.
- Radio Emissions detected by the EU’s Low-Frequency Array, or LOFAR, are also seeing errors. It is used to measure radio emissions from blackholes and such.
- The total of 6,000 satellites are part of the Starlink, and due to their electromagnetic radiation, they are also hampering with the Earth’s orbit.
It is time for the world to decide if they are willing to sacrifice their home planet for cheaper internet or not!

The UN Advisory Board has made recommendations about AI governance
The UN has finally declared their stand on how to govern AI!
A UN advisory board launched a 7-recommendation final report mentioning that,
- A special panel is needed to deliver impartial information on AI.
- It will address any issues related to mismatches between AI labs across the globe.
- Since AIs are owned by multinationals, they can become dangerous to the common public.
- A policy should be drafted on AI governance as well.
- Global AI capacity development is needed.
- Global AI fund to be established.
- Global AI data framework to be formed for transparent and accountable AI interactions.
It is an important step as the AI progresses from supercomputers and into our phones!

USA and other countries are under attack by Chinese Hackers!
The FBI director, Christopher Wray, informed the world about a network of botnets which were made of more than hundred thousand hacked IOT and router devices.
Chinese hackers, Flax Typhoon, are behind this, and IoT devices like video recorders, cameras, and more were being controlled.
The FBI, in its advisory, has linked 2,60,000 devices to hacking attempts by the Chinese government. The target has been the USA and a few other countries, like Taiwan.
And these botnet devices are being used to spy and cover tracks of the hackers.
There is nothing you can do about it other than keep your routers and IoT devices updated!

Infosys is venturing into Space Tech with an INR 17 crore investment in GalaxEye
The time for space tech is upon us, and Infosys takes the lead!
By investing Rs. 17 crore in an IIT Madras startup called GalaxEye Space Solutions, Infosys is planning to build,
- Synchronization platforms, and
- Multi-sensor satellites.
These space solutions will help in,
- Generating high-resolution images in all weather conditions, and
- Will help the industries in insurance, logistics, defence, agriculture, disaster management, and more sectors.

Tata Group just signed a pact with Analog Devices to make semiconductors!
Tata Group is planning to spearhead semiconductor product development by investing USD 14 billion in Analog Devices Inc. (a USA-based company).
The first ever semiconductor fabrication company will come up in Gujarat, and Assam will have the chip testing and assembly facility.
The chips thus manufactured can be used in,
- Electric vehicles by Tata Motors,
- Tejas Network’s telecommunication infrastructure,
- And more.
While plans are afoot to setup semiconductor factories by big names like Adani Group & Tower Semiconductor, L&T’s semiconductor division, NXP Semiconductors, and Micron!

Google’s new bid for Data Privacy via Confidential Matching
Since the world is shifting to First party data usage and stepping away from third party usage, Google just came up with Confidential Matching to protect privacy of First party data.
Using Trusted Execution Environments, or TTE, even Google will not be able to save the First party data from users via confidential matching.
- No customer identities will be pulled along with it.
- It uses Google Cloud Confidential Space for data storage, which has already been tested in the healthcare and finance sectors.
Google is making TTE available to open source models so that it can be quickly adapted.
For quite a few years, the world was looking to Google to find a solution between first-party and third-party data usage, and we think this is their answer!
