Scientists have been finding it difficult to map Earth’s Ionosphere using GPS or the global positioning system due to the variations in the free electron density.
But Google used cumulative data from the sensors of millions of Android phones across the globe to achieve the same effortlessly.
This finding was published in Nature and promises better location accuracy in GPS that was earlier hampered by ionospheric phenomena.
