New micro-continent is found between Canada and Greenland
(creative)
A geology team from Uppsala University, Sweden, and the University of Derby has found an isolated microcontinent between Canada and Greenland.
It is a 19- to 24-kilometre-thick continental crust that may have separated from Greenland during the east-west extension.
The land mass is located in the Davis Strait, which serves as a connection between the Labrador Sea & Baffin Bay.

As per Dr. Jordan Phethean of Derby University, it has formed due to rifting and seafloor spreading. And every earthquake can lead to the creation of the next microcontinent!
