Google launches Gemini App in India
Google launched its Gemini App in India for all its Android users. They will be able to reap the benefits of Google’s AI, Gemini, in nine different languages, such as Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujrati, Tamil, Urdu, Telugu, and, of course, English.
It was first launched in the USA in February. You can interact with it by typing, talking, or adding an image to get the help you require. You would first have to download the Gemini App from the Play Store, though!
Then you just say, “Hey Google,” and help will be rendered.
Amazon’s Anthropic launches Claude 3.5 Sonnet vs. Gemini and ChatGPT
Amazon-powered Anthropic launched its latest AI, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, to challenge market contenders like Gemini (Google) and ChatGPT (OpenAI). It is the best of both worlds, i.e., Claude 3 Opus and Claude 3 Sonnet, via their evaluations and cost & speed, respectively!
The greatest news of all is that you can download it for free from Claude.ai or use the Claude iOS app. While it is also available on Vertex AI (Google Cloud), Bedrock (Amazon), Anthropic API, and Claude’s Pro & Team plans.
As per the claims by the company, it is smarter than Gemini 1.5 Pro and GPT-4o! Meanwhile, Europe is planning to enter its AI competitor as well.
BlueDart and Skye Air Drones join hands to do drone deliveries in India
We have seen it in sci-fi movies and its applications during COVID times, but the real-world occurrence of drone-based package deliveries finally happened and is available in Gurgaon’s three posh housing societies, like Fresco in the Nirvana Country and two more!
The drone would need landing pods, which have been installed in these societies, and 80 more pods will be setup in other societies in Gurgaon. It became possible because of the collaboration between Blue Dart and Skye Air.
1 hour of delivery has been reduced to just 7-8 minutes! BTW, due to the excessive heat wave, even the drones were being flown between 6 to 11 a.m. Skyewalkers, delivery personnel, take the packages from the Skye Pods to do the door-to-door deliveries.
Similarly, a drone delivery was tested at Mount Everest by DJI, Airlift (a drone service company from Nepal), 8KRAW (video productions), and Mingma Gyalje Sherpa (an expert mountain guide). A DJI FlyCart 30 was used to deliver 15 kg (3 oxygen bottles and 1.5 kg of supplies) to Camp 1, i.e., 6000 m from Everest Base Camp.
Google has launched Spam Update in June 2024
Google launched its latest Spam Update in June 2024 to improve their SpamBrain, which is an AI used for spam detection. Previously, such an update was launched in March 2024, and this June update is about to set in around the last week of June or the first week of July.
It is said to bring worthy improvements to their algorithms. Websites are advised to see Google’s spam policies and check compliance if they notice any changes. Violation of these policies would lead to lower ranking or disappearance from the search results!

New SDC mandate to curb misleading ads in India
The India Ministry of Information and Broadcasting made SDC, or self-declaration certificate, a mandate for all advertisements starting June 18, 2024. This was done after the Supreme Court of India directed the government and advertising agencies to ensure proof of the claims made in ads. It was done after the Patanjali case.
The following details would now be needed with ads:
- Service or product advertised
- Ad title
- Ad brief (100–200 words)
- Full script (pdf)
- URL of the ad
- Suggested date of launch of the ad
- Letter of Authorization
- CBFC certificate (if available)
Experts ask the government body to provide more clarity because this process, if applicable to all ads, will make the ad release process difficult and late!
Google improves Paid Search Attribution via latest GA4 update
An update in Google Analytics, or GA4, recently launched by Google will make tracking paid ad conversions easy! But it might also impact the budgets of the paid ads!
It is projected to increase the conversions from paid searches as well, but that means there will be an impact on the CPC, or cost per click, of that ad. Google has advised arranging for higher budgets accordingly before the update hits i.e. in the last week of June 2024.
This is being done to correct the issues caused by the gclid, which is applied only to one page (say, the home or landing page), while other pages do not have it! What this means is that conversions from those other pages were getting labelled wrongly as organic conversions and thus were not getting charged!
You will, though, have a clearer ROI & ad impact and make adjustments to ad strategies accordingly. Also, the User Analytics will stop working on July 1, 2024!
