The First MPox Test Gets Approval—WHO
Since MPox is the new cause of concern globally, the pharma companies are rushing to cure it!
The first step is detection, and WHO has just approved the Alinity m MPXV assay as a testing method for Emergency usage.
It is an RT-PCR test that checks for MPox in real time via swabs from skin lesions.
Abbott Molecular Inc. is developing the testing mechanism.
While discussions are underway to approve three other Emergency Use Listing (EUL) testing procedures, 30,000 cases of MPox are suspected in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Burundi.

It will start in Q3 of 2025.
